About Philadelphia Youth Basketball

Philadelphia Youth Basketball (PYB) is a home-grown youth development and community empowerment organization that leverages the iconic game of basketball to help today’s young people overcome the most urgent and challenging circumstances facing under-resourced communities in our city and region.

Built of, by, for, and with the communities it serves, PYB’s unique equity-building model fuels learning and development of the whole child by blending basketball with engaging Sport & Society modules with real-world life lessons – from health and wellness to personal growth and leadership. This holistic approach to youth development hinges on the accessible, culturally credible Coach-Mentors at PYB, many of whom come from the same neighborhoods and circumstances as the young people we serve.

Entrepreneurial and evidence-based, PYB helps thousands of young people find their voice, value, and visibility during their critical, formative years — to bring about meaningful community change and lasting economic mobility.
