As a non-profit education design and management organization, we have committed ourselves to bringing the arts and innovation to the children of Philadelphia.

Our first school opened in the Fall of 2000 with the goal of offering students an arts immersive curriculum that would allow them to thrive academically and artistically. After a successful twelve years of growth, String Theory Schools was created to bring the mission of our original charter to more students and their families in Philadelphia. Today, String Theory Schools operates two charter schools that offer students a comprehensive educational program that emphasizes equally academic and artistic excellence. We are passionate about honoring each student as an individual and educating all students so that they reach their highest potentials.

Job Description

Philadelphia Performing Arts: A String Theory Charter School seeks a full-time Vocal Teacher
to join the team at our East and West campuses located on South Broad Street. At PPACS,
students engage in a unique educational program designed to grow the next generation of
creative leaders. Our teachers are creative, passionate, professional educators that believe
every student has specific intelligences that must be nurtured and that all students should
have an equal opportunity to achieve their own innate potential.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position involves teaching classroom (general music) for grades K-1 and a section
each day (1 hour) of Theatre to grade 5 Theatre Majors. Intermediate piano and/or
guitar skills are necessary for instruction. In this position, you will be working with the
Elements of Music: Rhythm, Melody, Harmony, Form, Texture, assuring a high level of
vocal pedagogy. A beautiful music space is available and classes report to you. This
is a well-equipped classroom with piano, classroom instruments, and Apple TV
instruction protocols. All students utilize iPads (there are no books for instruction).
Performances in the Winter and Spring are expected to showcase the abilities of our
talented students.

practice

Qualifications

Qualifications:
● Certified or non-certified candidates who are working toward certification will be
considered.
● Candidates must have a passion for working with young children in the field of music
education and be creative and collaborative while, at times, working with a team of
other Arts Instructors in Instrumental, Vocal, Dance and Visual Arts.
● Criminal history, child abuse and FBI clearances (Acts 34, 151 and FBI)
